RWFM Statement on the Tlaib

Tlaib’s Mythical Land or Liberal Revisionist History


LANSING, MI. – The following is a Statement by the Republican Women’s Federation of Michigan (RWFM) on the May 10, 2019 Tlaib interview on Yahoo’s ‘Skullduggery’ podcast with Michael Isikoff and Daniel Klaidma:

 

Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib from Michigan wasted no time, once elected, to make known her position: “We’re going to impeach this motherf—er,” referring to President Trump in her victory speech.  That Tlaib has disgraced her ever-left leaning political party we can overlook.  What we cannot ignore is her obvious ignorance, blatant anti-Semitism and revisionist history. Tliab’s constant hate-filled rhetoric leaves her shocked and in disbelief when anyone offended by her remarks questions her ability to serve in Congress.

 

Recently outdoing herself, Democrat Tliab said, “There’s kind of a calming feeling I always tell folks when I think of the Holocaust, and the tragedy of the Holocaust, and the fact that it was my ancestors, Palestinians, who lost their land and some lost their lives, their livelihood, their human dignity, their existence in many ways, have been wiped out, and some people’s passports.”

 

The Republican Women’s Federation of Michigan has exhausted its patience for Tlaib and her Democrat co-conspirators in DC. Being a woman, a Muslim, or a Michigander does not provide her a “pass” and never will. She should be censured by Democrat leadership, but she will not be. She should be called to task by the myriad of Democrat Presidential candidates, but she will not be. Michigan Democrats like Senator Gary Peters should rebuke this kind of AOC-like farcical antic for attention by Tlaib, but, he will not.

 

It is not clear what alternative facts Tlaib was told by her ancestors, but no one but Tlaib believes non-Jews (in what was called Palestine) would offer Jews a “safe haven.” What!?? This fantasy is so beyond the pale, it has no place in the real world. The day Israel pronounced statehood (May 14, 1948), SIX (6) neighboring Arab countries declared war on the small nation – they were all defeated.

 

So, the RWFM will set the record straight, providing Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib with the FACTS in which she can take “comfort”:

 

1917: The British army occupied Jerusalem on Sunday, 9 December 1917.

 

1917: The Balfour Declaration, a public statement issued by the British government in 1917 during World War I announces support for the establishment of a “national home for the Jewish people” in Palestine, then an Ottoman region with a small, but ever-present Jewish population. It read:

 

“His Majesty’s government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country.”

 

1920: The League of Nations divides the lands of the Ottoman Empire into entities called mandates that are intended to lead to the creation of nation states. Britain accepts the mandate for Palestine.

 

1945:  In 1945, when Allied troops entered the concentration camps, they discovered piles of corpses, bones, and human ashes—testimony to Nazi mass murder. Soldiers also found thousands of Jewish and non-Jewish survivors suffering from starvation and disease. For survivors, the prospect of rebuilding their lives was daunting.

 

1946:  In postwar Poland, for example, there were a number of pogroms (violent anti-Jewish riots). The largest of these occurred in the town of Kielce in 1946 when Polish rioters killed at least 42 Jews and beat many others.

 

1947: The UN General Assembly passes Resolution 181, which would partition Palestine into Jewish and Arab states and establish Greater Jerusalem as an international city. Numerous skirmishes, road ambushes, riots, and bombings take place organized by both Jews and Palestinians. (Note to Ms. Tlaib:  THIS IS NOT A WELCOME TO THE SAFE HAVEN FOR HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS.)

1948: The British government withdrew on 14 May 1948. During its brief imperium in the Promised Land, Britain kept the promise made in 1917 by its foreign secretary, Arthur James Balfour, in the Declaration that bears his name, “to favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people.”

 

1948: On May 14, 1948, David Ben-Gurion, the head of the Jewish Agency, proclaimed the establishment of the State of Israel.

 

1948: On May 14, 1948, U.S. President Harry S. Truman recognized the new nation on the same day.

 

1948: Violence escalates. The British mandate ends. Israel declares statehood on May 14.

 

1948: Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia declare war on Israel, promising swift victory and annihilation of Israel. The war results in a divided Jerusalem and some 650,000 to 750,000 Palestinian refugees. The UN General Assembly passes Resolution 194 calling for the cessation of hostilities and establishing the Right of Return for refugees who wish to live in peace. (SIX NATIONS DECLARED WAR AGAINST A SMALL NUMBER OF JEWISH PEOPLE GRANTED A PORTION OF THE LAND THEY WERE ENTITLED TO BY GOD.  MIRACLES ABOUNDING, GOD’S PRESENCE WAS EVIDENT IN FIGHTING FOR THE JEWISH PEOPLE.)

 

1949-1950: At the end of the war, Israel holds about 78 percent of the territory of the Palestine Mandate. The Green Line, set at the 1949 armistice, establishes the borders between Israel and the Arab lands. Jordan annexes East Jerusalem and the West Bank. Egypt controls the Gaza Strip.

 

1967: The Six-Day War occurs. Israel conquers the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, East Jerusalem, the Sinai, and the Golan Heights.” (AGAIN, we believe GOD WAS WITH HIS CHOSEN PEOPLE.)

 

1973: There was the Yom Kippur war in 1973 that Israel miraculously won on their most holy day.

 

Overall, beginning in 1956, Israel has fought five defensive wars to preserve the Jewish State in its ongoing “right to exist.”  The tiny Jewish State (the size of Lake Michigan) surrounded by 22 Arab states and the only democracy in the region, from its beginning in 1948 absorbed 800,000 Jews exiled from said Arab states.  Notably, the Arab states did not resettle their own.

 

Most Palestinians – self-proclaimed migrants working the land for absentee landlords but then exalted to refugee status by the UN – left willingly in 1948, assured they would soon reap the spoils of the 1948 war.  They were offered a two-state solution then – and again in 2000 – when with President Clinton and Ehud Barak, Israel’s prime minister – PLO leader Arafat refused to settle for 95% of his demands. Instead, 100% was sought and the end of the Jewish State.

 

If we learn one thing from history, there was never any welcoming party for Jews, only continued hatred, mayhem and war. Rockets raining down on Israel now testify to this. So sell your rhetoric to your party, Ms. Tlaib.  Share your “comfort” and convenient lies in a mythical land where your ancestors provided “safe haven” out of compassion for the Jews. Since liberals love to revise history, as evident by former Vice President Joe Biden, who indicated “there were no scandals in the Obama Administration,” repeating a lie will not make it true.  The world knows differently and the Voters are listening. People like YOU lie, but History does not lie!
