Statement from the Republican Women’s Federation of Michigan on MSP Colonel Etue
Republican Women’s Federation of Michigan President, Linda Lee Tarver, issued the following statement regarding continued attacks on Michigan’s State Police Director:
“In Michigan, the first female director of the Michigan State Police Director, Colonel Kriste Kibbey Etue, has been targeted for political sport by Democrats and some un-civil rights leaders. Their grand show has culminated in a call for her resignation or immediate firing. These ‘leaders’ have called Colonel Etue a racist. As a direct result of their grandstanding, Colonel Etue’s national reputation for integrity, fairness, and commitment to excellence has been irreparably damaged.
“The liberal left has so few tools in its wheelhouse to assail Republicans or conservative leaders that they must inevitably resort to underhanded and absurd assertions. This misuse and mishandling of the word ‘racist’ dilutes its potency when it truly occurs. The RWFM has no formal relationship with the Michigan State Police Director, but in the case of Colonel Etue, her post was unfortunate, not racist.
“We, the RWFM welcome a dialogue on race in Michigan, but not based on a lie. We fully support Colonel Etue.”
